We are in this for the long haul...
All proceeds go to Lansing for Haiti's job creation program in Cité Soleil, Haiti. This job creation program is being facilitated by World Relief Haiti, using the infrastructure of 10 existing local churches in Cité Soleil.
- In 2011, we purchased 10 peanut butter mills in local churches, which the most vulnerable in the community are now able to come and use, generating income for themselves and steadily working their way out of extreme poverty. Click for community quotes and photos of the mills and photos from of our May '11 trip where we got to see the mills in action.
- In 2012, money raised will go to microloans to farmers in Cite' Soleil and Leogane. Farmers will receive a small loan, which they will use to grow their business. Once they pay this loan back, they will receive a larger loan to grow their business further, and so on. Microloans are a proven way to alleviate extreme poverty.
- We have a 3-group partnership that consists of our network (L4H), World Relief, and the local churches in Leogane and Cité Soleil, Haiti. World Relief has been on the ground in Haiti for the past 20 years and specializes in mobilizing the local church in the poorest countries of the world to bring about sustainable, holistic growth to the surrounding community. 100% of the money we raise will go directly to our project goals, with World Relief serving as our facilitator, rather than as our recipient.
You will see in this video the need for people, churches and organizations to make long term commitments to Haiti.
